Class Type: Hands-On! | These are our most involved and participatory classes, where you get the opportunity to learn a hands-on skill. Anyone can do it, though--no prior experience required to attend!

WHAT YOU'LL GET IN THIS CLASS:

• build tacos from your tortillas and enjoy a glass of wine or beer

Learn to make your own corn tortillas from scratch! Join our Education Director Austin for a hands on cooking class exploring one of the world's most significant foods: the humble corn tortilla. We'll learn about the incredible story of corn and the ancient culinary practice of nixtamalization before getting hands on making corn tortillas from scratch. We'll also learn about other foods made from masa like tamales, sopes, tlayocos, and more. Once we've got a nice stack of steaming hot tortillas, we'll turn the class into a taco party and feast on the fruits of our labor! You'll never look at corn or tortillas the same way, and you'll leave with an understanding of how masa is magical and corn is life.

IMPORTANT STUFF: 

• Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot attend a class you have registered for, registration may be transferable to another France 44 class, or, if given a 48+ hour notice, we can issue you a class credit.
• We love kids, and they are welcome in this class! All of our cooking classes are suitable for children 16+, and we welcome younger children as well, but please email us before you purchase a ticket so we can help determine if a particular class is appropriate for your kiddo! Children must be attended by an adult during the class.

• Parking in our lot is very limited, and the center spots are 30 minutes only. However, parking is available on 44th Street, France Ave, and Drew Ave S. Please refer to THIS MAP for more parking information!
