Ask a France 44 staff member what their favorite wines are, and they might say something like, "wines from high altitudes and cool climates." White wines from these regions are crisp, cool, and insanely food-friendly, while reds tend to be deep, silky, and elegant. No one makes these wines quite like the Austrians, some of whom tend vineyards in Mosel with a vertiginous 70-degree angle! This is a rugged landscape where wine has been produced for centuries, and while the work is hard, the wines are worth it: Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Weißburgunder, Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt. These are world class wines of remarkable quality and value. Join us for a casual evening of education as we leap from Alp to Alp, one glass at a time!
