MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Rashidi Barrett
Rashidi currently serves as the National Woodford Reserve
Ambassador for the Western United States.
His career began as a barman in 1998, shortly after serving as a United States Navy submariner and pursuing studies in chemistry at the University of Texas. Over the next 18 years, he honed his craft bartending on the East Coast and abroad, immersing himself in the art and science of cocktails, spirits, and flavor.
In 2012, Rashidi returned to Texas, where he deepened his
expertise through various world-class bar programs. His journey includes serving as the brand ambassador for Angel’s Envy bourbon in Texas for four years, interning with St. George Spirits for distillation and maturation studies, facilitating agave sustainability and sotol research for the Tequila Interchange Project, reinstating the Black Mixologist Collective (founded 1898) in 2017, broadening his knowledge in the Sake Sommelier Academy, and authoring a book on the science of flavor in spirits. In 2017, Rashidi joined the Suntory Global Spirits team as the central Texas On-Premise Manager, where he also held roles as the Protector of the Peat Suntory Scotch portfolio ambassador and the House of Suntory ambassador for Texas
