Instructor: Jared Kaufman

Class type: Take Notes! | These are our classic "lecture-styled" classes, where you're given lots of in-depth information by a knowledgeable instructor. Anyone is welcome to attend, but these classes are geared toward folks with more than a passing interest in the subject.

WHAT YOU'LL GET IN THIS CLASS:

  • A deep-dive, instructor-led tasting.
  • An individual cheese plate of the finest French fromage.
  • Featured beverage pairings.
  • Special pricing on all featured beverages.
  • After hours access to the Cheese Shop.
  • Some lasting memories!

To express profound sadness, the French say, "triste comme un repas sans fromage," "sad as a meal without cheese." Charles de Gaulle, the esteemed French general and statesman bemoaned, "How can anyone govern a nation that has two-hundred and forty-six kinds of cheese?" (In reality, it is well over 1,000 kinds.) To describe someone as a lover of cheese we call them a fromagophile. The French love of cheese is so strong it not only permeates their culture, but ours as well. In this class we'll look at classics of French fromagerie from diverse styles and regions – buttery, creamy bries; eighty pound wheels of alpine cheese; and the delicious, hair-curling stinkers so often associated with France—all paired, naturally, with exquisite French wines. (NOTE: This class is offered as a companion to our Wines of France class series--find the first of those classes here!)
