To express profound sadness, the French say, "triste comme un repas sans fromage," "like a meal without cheese." Charles de Gaulle, the esteemed French general and statesman bemoaned, "How can anyone govern a nation that has two-hundred and forty-six kinds of cheese?" (In reality, it is well over 1,000 kinds.) To describe someone as a lover of cheese we call them a fromagophile. The French love of cheese is so strong it not only permeates their culture, but ours as well. In this class we'll look at classics of French fromagerie from diverse styles and regions – buttery, creamy bries; eighty pound wheels of alpine cheese; and the delicious, hair-curling stinkers so often associated with France—all paired, naturally, with exquisite French wines.

• Participants must be 21 years old.
• Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot attend a class you have registered for, registration may be transferable to another France 44 class if given a 48+ hour notice.
